EOS Book Giveaway
EOS/Harpercollins has generously offered up 6 books to celebrate the upcoming release of Kim Harrison’s Black Magic Sanction, (Feb 23rd), the recently released Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter by A.E. Moorat, (Jan 26th), and Robin Hobb’s Dragon Keeper, (Jan 26th), I have 2 copies of each book to giveaway! Here’s a bit about each book:
Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison
Book Description:
“Rachel Morgan has fought and hunted vampires, werewolves, banshees, demons, and other supernatural dangers as both witch and bounty hunter—and lived to tell the tale. But she’s never faced off against her own kind . . . until now.
Denounced and shunned for dealing with demons and black magic, her best hope is life imprisonment—at worst, a forced lobotomy and genetic slavery. Only her enemies are strong enough to help her win her freedom, but trust comes hard when it hinges on the unscrupulous tycoon Trent Kalamack, the demon Algaliarept, and an ex-boyfriend turned thief.
It takes a witch to catch a witch, but survival bears a heavy price.”

Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter by A.E. Moorat
Book Description:
“There were many staff at Kensington Palace, fulfilling many roles; a man who was employed to catch rats, another whose job it was to sweep the chimneys. That there was someone expected to hunt demons did not shock the new Queen; that it was to be her was something of a surprise.
London, 1838. Queen Victoria is crowned; she receives the orb, the scepter, and an arsenal of bloodstained weaponry. If Britain is about to become the greatest power of the age, there’s the small matter of the undead to take care of first. Demons stalk the crown, and political ambitions have unleashed ravening hordes of zombies even within the nobility itself.
But rather than dreams of demon hunting, Queen Victoria’s thoughts are occupied by Prince Albert. Can she dedicate her life to saving her country when her heart belongs elsewhere? With lashings of glistening entrails, decapitations, zombies, and foul demons, this masterly new portrait will give a fresh understanding of a remarkable woman, a legendary monarch, and quite possibly the best demon hunter the world has ever seen.”

Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb
Book Description:
“For years, the Trader cities valiantly battled their enemies, the Chalcedeans. But they could not have staved off invasion without the powerful dragon Tintaglia. In return, the Traders promised to help her serpents migrate up the Rain Wild River after a long exile at sea-to find a safe haven and, Tintaglia hopes, to restore her species. But too much time has passed, and the newly hatched dragons are damaged and weak, and many die. The few who survive cannot use their wings; earthbound, they are powerless to hunt and vulnerable to human predators willing to kill them for the fabled healing powers of dragon flesh.
But Tintaglia has vanished and the Traders are weary of the labor and expense of tending useless dragons. The Trader leadership fears that if it stops providing for the young dragons, the hungry and neglected creatures will rampage-or die along the river’s acidic muddy banks. To avert catastrophe, the dragons decree a move even farther up the treacherous river to Kelsingra, their ancient, mythical homeland whose mysterious location is locked deep within the dragons’ uncertain ancestral memories.
To ensure their safe passage, the Traders recruit a disparate group of young people to care for the damaged creatures and escort them to their new home. Among them is Thymara, an unschooled forest girl of sixteen, and Alise, a wealthy Trader’s wife trapped in a loveless marriage, who attaches herself to the expedition as a dragon expert. The two women share a deep kinship with the dragons: Thymara can instinctively communicate with them, and Alise, captivated by their beauty and majesty, has devoted her life to studying them.
Embarking on an arduous journey that holds no promise of return, the band of humans and dragons must make their way along the toxic and inhospitable Rain Wild River-an extraordinary odyssey that will teach them lessons about themselves and one another, as they experience hardships, betrayals, and joys beyond their wildest dreams.”

I read Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Light Fantasy, Young Adult and Graphic Novels in said genres. I’ve also been known to read the odd historical romance if they involve uber-sexy highlanders, vikings or knights & if they involve some time travel and a lot of humor. Heh!

I’m a firm believer magic is out there for the people who look for it. Happy Saturday!

I’d like to be included for Black Magic Sanction, my favorite genre is Paranormal! tWarner419@aol.com
Black Magic Sanction is my pick. I love Kim Harrison’s series with all the wonderful paranormal characters. Urban Fantasy is my favorite genre for the variety of otherworldly creatures and the modern day setting. Makes me think magical things could be happening in my own world

Yes, darling! Enter me for the Robin Hobb — I’m a HUGE Hobb fan, just now finishing up Fitz’s story and then about to start reading the trilogy that started with Shaman’s Crossing, I think is the start. I share them with the Tour Manager, too.
So… +1 for being a fan of Robin Hobb and +1 for posting this at Win a Book for you. The pingback ought to show up…
Hey, look! It did!
I’m digging Black Magic Sanction the most out of the three. I’m really into the kick butt contemporary heroines lately ’cause so many of my friends have great strong female attitudes!
I’m already subscribed to your blog and will be adding this contest to my daily post as well as my side bar.

I’d love Black Magic Sanction. I’m already a big fan of the series- one of my favorites. I really enjoy urban fantasy/paranormal because it’s such a fantastical escape without falling into some of the archaic silliness (especially in dialogue) of some regular fantasies (which don’t get me wrong, I also can enjoy.) It also tends to have strong female characters.
