Halloween Contest

Here we go my little ghouls and goblins! In honor of All Hallows Eve, I’m having a contest to win one of three awesome books! I’ll tell you which ones, and the contest details will follow.

Just when she thinks she’s seen it all, Lizzie learns she’s a demon slayer-and all hell is after her.

Of course, that’s not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos, a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you’ve never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn’t work, how dangerous could a little seduction be…?”

    COUNTDOWN”

The Wild Road by Marlorie Liu

  • Mass Market Paperback: 306 pages

  • Blurb – “Lannes Hannelore is one of a dying race born to protect mankind against demonic forces. And while those who look upon him see a beautiful man, this illusion is nothing but a prison. His existence is one of pure isolation, hiding in plain sight, with brief solace found in simple pleasures: stretching his wings on a stormy night, long late drives on empty highways, the deep soul of sad songs.

But when Lannes finds a young woman covered in blood—desperate and alone, with no memory or past—he will be drawn into a mystery that makes him question all he knows. And though it goes against his nature and everything he fears, Lannes will risk his heart, his secrets, and his very soul, in order to save someone who could be the love of his life…or the end of it.”

Sweet, no? There is also a little bit of Monster Munny chocolate involved for the winners! The contest will run from the eve of October 31st until Midnight, November 8th. I will post the three winners on Nov. 9th. Unfortunately, I can only afford to ship within Canada and USA, so I will have to only accept entries from readers who live in these two countries. I apologize to my international readers.

Leave a comment telling me what your favorite thing is about Halloween, or a funny story about something that happened on Halloween, a scary story, or something to that effect. Please let me know what your preferences are for all three books and list them in the order of which book you would like the most to the least. The first name I pull will get the one they want, the second person will get the one they like first or second, and so on.

If for some reason, you have trouble leaving a comment, you can email your entry to me at sidhevicious(at)shaw(dot)ca

For an extra entry, subscribe to my blog, or if you’re already subscribed, let me know in your comments.

For another extra entry, post or blog about this contest on your blog, facebook, myspace, etc., and leave me the link in your comments.

I will attempt to contact the winners, but if I have no way of contacting you, then it’s the winners’ responsibility to check back and contact me within a week of the names being posted, or my emailing you. If I don’t hear back from a winner, I will pull a new name from the entrants.

Thanks everyone! I wish you all luck and a safe and Happy Halloween! 🙂

    Halloween Treats

I did say there would be treats, so to get Halloween started, I’ve done my, ahem… cough, cough, research and compiled a list of Supernatural Eye Candy!!

Yes boys and girls, THAT is the vampire “Bill Compton” from True Blood! And a very good picture of him if I do say so myself.

“Eric Northman” from True Blood. Mmmm… another vampire better than chocolate.

“Henry Fitzgerald” from Blood Ties, another not hard on the eyes vampire.

“Louis” from Interview With The Vampire.

“Castiel”, the angel from Supernatural. Now he’s an intriguing new character! And you can’t have anything “supernatural” without these two. 😉  “Dean Winchester”

And “Sam Winchester”, the brothers who’ve got demon blood in one and the other who’s been to hell and back – and they still look good doin it!

I had to put at least one in here for the guys, so I give you “Selene” from Underworld.

I have no idea who this “angel” is, but I’d like to! WOW!

I also had wicked pics of “Angel” and Spike” and they just won’t show up for me to insert them here. Sigh…

And this concludes my list of supernatural Halloween Hotties 2008. I hope you all enjoyed your “treats”. I’ll have my contest posted at some point today, so be sure to pop back.

    Ooohhh… Shiny Covers!

During my last week of wanderings’ through Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance cyber land, I happened upon these shiny new covers for up-coming books! I had to share the shiny…

Dakota Cassidy, the extremely funny and snarky, (two of my favorite attributes), author of Accidentally Dead and The Accidental Werewolf has the cover for her next masterpiece! It’s  a stand-alone Demon based series and is titled Kiss & Hell, due to be released in June 2009.

Also coming soon, March 2009, is the third book in Dakota Cassidy’s Accidental Series, The Accidental Human. Here’s the blurb from Dakota’s Website:

    Accidentally Dead

    Nina always loved the nightlife.

It’s a lousy first day on the job for dental assistant Nina Blackman when a patient, loopy from the anesthesia, bites her. At least he was cute. But for real drama she can’t beat the next morning. Nina wakes up with a set of razor sharp fangs, bionic vision, super sonic hearing, and a taste for blood. There must be a good explanation. There is. It’s her patient, Greg Statleon.

She just never expected to be the nightlife.

A visit to his Long Island castle hardly results in a cure. Greg claims there isn’t one. Unfortunately, Nina isn’t wild about her lifestyle change or the danger that goes along with it. She’s determined to prove this infuriating vampire wrong. It’s a shame he’s so irresistible. It’s a bigger shame that he’s dead. On the other hand, they’re perfect for each other if Nina’s willing to commit to one man for eternity.”

Terri Garey, the author of Dead Girls Are Easy and A Match Made In Hell, has the cover up for the third Nicki Styx novel, You’re The One That I Haunt. The release date is February 2009.

V.K. Forrest’s second book in the Clare Point series, Undying, will be out December 2008. I have my review of the first book, Eternal HERE.

Tate Halloway’s next release, Dead If I Do, is due to be released May 2009. I finally got a copy of her last release, Romancing The Dead, which I’ve been wanting to get to because it sounds like Ms. Halloway’s writing is right up my alley! But here’s the new book’s shiny cover. J

And last but definitely not least, because this author has been rockin the socks off the paranormal romance readers collective you know whats, Nalini Singh has a new cover to whet our appetites for Angel’s Blood, due out March 2009. It’s the first book in the Guild Hunter series, and is about a vampire hunter who bags, tags and returns escapee vampires to their masters…the angels.

And there you have my findings! I hope you enjoy and are looking forward to these books as much as I am. As always, happy reading to you!

    Night’s Master – Spotlight & Review

     Night’s Master by Amanda Ashley

  • Paperback: 384 pages
  • Publisher: Zebra – Kensington (Sep 30 2008)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0821780638
  • ISBN-13: 978-0821780633
  •  ( From Back Cover )

     ”

PASSION HAS A DARKER SIDE…Kathy McKenna was sure that the little Midwestern town of Oak Hollow would be isolated enough for safety, but the moment the black-clad stranger walked into her bookstore, she knew she was wrong. Raphael Cordova exudes smoldering power, and his sensual touch draws Kathy into a world of limitless pleasure and unimaginable dangers.

Oak Hollow was supposed to be neutral territory for Supernatural beings. Instead it has become home to an evil force determined to destroy them—and kill any mortal who gets in the way. As leader of the North American vampires, Raphael has always put duty first, but then, no woman ever enthralled him the way Kathy does. And as the enemy’s terrifying plan is revealed, Raphael’s desire could be a fatal distraction for all his kind, and for the woman he has sworn to love forever…”

Amanda Ashley was kind enough to send me an ARC of this book to review, and I loved it! I apologize for not getting my review up before the release date, to both Ms. Ashley and my readers.

Night’s Master was a wonderful read! It has all of my favorite elements: a great female protagonist who I can relate to, a sexy as all get-out male/vampire protagonist, romance, danger, a fun and surprising supporting cast of characters, a mystery, a great climax and it’s all rolled into one with Amanda Ashley’s usual highly gifted story-telling abilities!

This book is the third in the Night Series. The next one is Night’s Pleasure, due to be released in February 2009. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Ashley’s since her first vampire romance, Embrace The Night, and I look forward to reading many more in the future.

Bitten To Death – Spotlight & Review

Bitten To Death by Jennifer Rardin

  • Paperback: 320 pages
  • Publisher: Orbit ( Aug 12 2008 )
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 031602208X
  • ISBN-13: 978-0316022088
  • ( From Back Cover )

    “Jaz Parks here.

My latest mission has taken me to the ancient Greek city of Patras; but instead of soaking up it’s splendor, I’m here to infiltrate a Vampire Trust.

Only two vamps have ever escaped the tightly bound communities and lived to tell the tale: Edward “The Raptor” Samos, the most reviled criminal mastermind in recent memory, and Vayl, the CIA’s number one assassin, who also happens to be my boss.

The Raptor is trying to take over Vayl’s former Trust. Unfortunately, the Trust’s new leader has her own plans.

This job is going to be the death of me.”

This is the fourth book of the series in which Jaz Parks and her boss Vayl, the CIA’s top assassin duo, come up against some serious supernatural bad-asses. This highly entertaining team of CIA operatives goes in kicking butt and takes you on a supernatural roller-coaster of high flying danger, excitement, anticipation and hair-raising events!

As usual, I couldn’t put the book down and I can’t wait for the next book, One More Bite, coming out on January 5th, 2009

I really enjoyed the trip into some of Vayl’s past and just the character development in general. The plot, as always, is fast paced, scary and exhilarating. I absolutely love Ms. Rardin’s writing style, and her characterization of Jaz makes me laugh out loud. She’s just a total blast to read about. This is definitely one of my top picks of a series I would LOVE to see made into movies or TV series. ( Are you listening out there you TV and Movie execs? )
