Phenomenal Girl 5 by A.J. Menden

  • Mass Market Paperback: 305 pages
  • Publisher: Dorchester / Special Series ( Oct 7 2008 )

“Lainey Livingston has just been made a member of the Elite Hands of Justice, the world’s premiere cadre of superheroes.  Her work with the Red Knights and the Power Squad was impressive; her apprehension stats are above normal, and her great strength and ability to fly are equally remarkable.  But no one gets a free pass to active duty, and Lainey’s next test is going to be her hardest.  She’s to train with the Reincarnist.

Robert Elliot, the Reincarnist.  A magician who has lived multiple lifetimes, he’s the smartest man in the world—and Lainey’s last obstacle.  He was personally responsible for seeing Pushstar wash out. But his eyes are the softest, kindest that Lainey has ever seen, and he’s just the sort to knock her for a loop.  Lesson #1: Romantic entanglements among crime fighters are super exploitable, and falling in love with a man who “can’t die” is like waving a red flag at a bull.  Especially not when the most fiendish plot ever is about to break over Megalopolis like a wave of fire.”

I’ve been a fan of the SHOMI line from Dorcester since it first came out and this addition to their line was a definite WIN.  A.J. Mendon’s debut novel was a really awesome read! It was a totally new, (at least to me), twist on action romance and I flat out loved it. Super Heroe’s with flaws and evil villans, romance with an unusal twist and great world-building kept me turning the pages to find out what happens. For anyone who’s a fan of comics, superheroes and a fantastic take on the “world” they live in and the “lives” they lead – this is a must read!

I really don’t know what else to say without giving away spoilers, except that this book is Made Of Awesome! I’m really hoping that Ms. Mendon will be writing more books based in Megalopolis. You can find out more about A.J. Mendon at her WEBSITE.

Scions: Revelation – Spotlight & Review

    Scions: Revelation by Patrice Michelle

  • Mass Market Paperback: 288 pages
  • Publisher: Silhouette ( Dec 1 2008 )
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 037361800X
  • ISBN-13: 978-0373618002
  • (from back cover)

“Caine Grennard is a werewolf, living among humans and lacking purpose—until the night he meets a woman with an exotic, irresistible scent. A woman who might be his deadliest enemy.

When her aunt is kidnapped, Emma Gray swears she’ll do anything to get the older woman back. Even if it means trusting the mysterious—and sexy—stranger named Caine.

But more is at stake than one woman’s life: Emma’s past holds the last key to unlocking a prophecy Caine’s clan is depending on. The fates of both their clans rest on Caine and Emma trusting the impossible, electric connection between them, even in the midst of betrayal.… “

Book three in Patrice Michelle’s enticing Scions series concludes the prophecy in a rich, sensual and satisfying manner. I really enjoyed Caine and Emma’s journey, to finding each other and the parts they played in fulfilling the prophecy. Caine is pure alpha material: sexy, strong, passionate and stubborn. Emma is his perfect match and I loved every second of following these two through thick and thin!

Patrice Michelle has created a “world” that’s been a treat to escape into and I’m really hoping that she’ll write some more stories here. The first two books in the series, Scions: Resurrection and Scions: Insurrection are both awesome reads as well! My review of Scions: Insurrection can be read HERE, and my interview with Patrice Michelle can be read HERE. You can read these books as stand alone’s and you’ll have no problems following, as each is an incredible romance, but my personal recommendation is to read all three as you’ll get so much more from them.   You can find out more about Patrice and the awesome books she’s written and what she’s working on at her BLOG.
