Help For Haiti
Like most people around the world, I’ve watched all the news coverage of the heart-breaking aftermath and devastation that the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti are struggling through. My heart and prayers go out to all the people who are suffering, but that’s not enough. Members of my family and myself are donating to the various charities who are down there and on the ground providing what they can to help Haitians. Believe it or not, your $5.00 or $10.00 or whatever you can afford, WILL make a difference!
Let’s look at some numbers to put it into perspective. Let’s say there are a million people in just my city alone, (which there are and more). Let’s say 25% of those people give $10.00 on average. That’s $2, 500,000.00! From just one city! Two million, five hundred thousand from one city, so yes, your $10.00 does make a difference.
There are those people who don’t think that the money you donate will make it the people in Haiti. Yes, a very small percentage will be used for administrative costs, etc, but the majority of it will go to helping the people. There are many very well established organizations that have been doing this for years and years. You can see them in the news broadcasts from the place in distress, so they are down there doing what they can.
I’m up here in Canada, so I’m going to give you some links to the Canadian organizations where you can donate. If you’re in the States, CNN has a list of organizations to which you can donate. Here are the Canadian links:
