Lana Griffin – Guest Blog & Giveaway

Today I have erotic Paranormal Romance author, Lana Griffin, guest blogging about one of my favourite supernatural beings, yep, you guessed it, the Vampire! Think Spike & Angel, Eric Northman, Damon Salvatore, Bones and a whole slew of other uber sexy vamps. There are so many spine tingling dangerous and gorgeous vamps out there, I’m always up for getting to “know” some more. 🙂

Be sure to read all the way to the end as there’s a giveaway too! Let’s give Lana a warm welcome.

LANA GRIFFIN AND BAD BOY VAMPIRES!

Hi, and my thanks to Judi and Sidhe Vicious for hosting me today. (I love the name, Sidhe Vicious!) I’m Lana Griffin, alter ego of a New York Times Best-Selling Author. I’ve written more than 20 books and am currently working on several new novels. Under my real name, I’ve sold more than 6-700,000 books worldwide.

DUSK (Ravenous Romance, 12-30-10) is my first erotic romance novel.

DUSK is a sexy vampire tale, in which an ancient voodoo priestess and her vampire lover must overcome their “bad blood” to save the lives of ordinary humans.

When Judi kindly asked me to guest blog on her site today, I decided to talk about the allure of vampires.

These are seductive creatures who take what they want. The vampire is the ultimate bad boy (or bad girl!): drinks your blood, lives forever, and often tormented by his own desires.

Of course, this is the cliché version of the vampire, who comes in plenty of other flavors: some don’t drink human blood, some aren’t plagued by any guilt, and some pine for a way out of immortality.

But in the end, no matter what the flavor, the vampire represents forbidden love and lust. There’s no way to resist these guys, and that makes them sexy and intoxicating.

I wrote my first vampire story when I was thirteen years old. It had a simple title: The Master. It was set in a graveyard, and there was absolutely nothing sexy about the vampire. The story was pure horror. I liked creepy stories that made my heart race.

I continued writing creepy stories, even while sitting in classes. And when I wasn’t physically in school, I wrote creepy stories about my classes.

It was a hop and a skip from there to erotic horror and dark comedy. I wrote a lot of stories about vampires, witches, ghouls, spirits, and other supernatural entities.

I obviously loved the paranormal…

And now I love writing paranormal romances. The fact that a romance has a happy ending appeals to me a lot.

I also like to keep things moving with tight plots, and good characterization is always a wise thing to toss into fiction. I don’t know if I achieve these goals, but I always try.

But back to DUSK! Ravenous Romance calls DUSK an “adult Twilight,” and while DUSK is about forbidden love and lust, it also has plenty of passion. Yes, the characters do have sex: imagine that!

With DUSK, I decided to add some love triangles, and along with my lead vamp hero, I made my heroine an ancient voodoo priestess and gave her a longtime lover, who just happens to be a poetic wraith. I even tossed in a gargoyle, who falls in love with the true Venus de Milos: hey, they’re both statues, so why shouldn’t they fall in love? Finally, I gave DUSK an underpinning of mystery to drive the plot.

My goal is to entertain readers. So if you read DUSK, I hope you like it.

XOXO,

Lana Griffin

Synopsis:

Alexandra Leveau comes from an ancient voodoo priestess clan that’s been feuding with sexy vamp Vadim Blerinca’s family for centuries. The mysterious “bad blood” between the Leveaus and Blerincas is what keeps Alexandra and Vadim burning for each other, yet it also makes them a very dangerous match: by making love, each could kill the other.

Added to the erotically charged mix is Alexandra’s ex-boyfriend, the poetic wraith Skipp, as well as a gargoyle who is devoted to Alexandra and will kill anyone who tampers with her. Add one more wraith to the mix plus an insane vamp sire and the true Venus de Milos. Now mix in elements of murder and mystery: the deaths of elderly citizens for unknown reasons.

A sexy, romantic romp of forbidden love and lust!

  4. Hi Lana! I’m right there with you–my first vampire story was pure horror, too, and I found the transition to mixed-genre erotica and romance to be a fun and refreshing change of pace. I still prefer my vampires scary, BTW, even the sexy ones. 😉

  5. My perfect vampire is old so I can learn lots of things about the past. I think it’s kind of cool (and sexy) that a being alive today could have walked the streets of Troy, you know?

  9. Hi, everyone! This is Lana Griffin aka Lois Gresh (my real name). Thanks for all your comments.

I definitely like my vampires to be DANGEROUS and SEXY.

Yeah, it’s cool to think that a vampire could have walked the streets of Troy, ancient Rome, medieval places, etc. The attraction of vampires is almost visceral, isn’t it?

I’m currently writing a vampire horror novel, BLOOD AND ICE – not particularly romantic, I have to say. This vampire is DANGEROUS, and while various men and women may find him sexy in the novel, I know better. He’s one scary dude.

Lana Griffin aka Lois Gresh – double-headed evil twins – muhahahaha!

  10. I usually prefer them a little older and more worldy. I guess most of my favs are also European. Being a bit impulsive isn’t a necessarily a bad thing though.
