“Meet Nemi Montoya, the vegetarian, cynical/romantic, hilariously honest twenty-something goth, in this brand new collection from artist Lise Myhre!

Hang out in the pub with Nemi and her friends, including her flatmate, the blue-haired Cyan; hear her opinions on romance and dating; watch her watch TV in her untidy flat; learn how she feels about birch trees, spiders and blondes; and generally experience the highs and lows of being Nemi in the modern world!

A superstar in her native Norway thanks to the immense success of Nemi — also reprinted in the 1.35 million-circulation UK Metro newspaper — you too can enter Lise Myhre’s witty, wonderful world!”

    My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this graphic novel, but it had nothing to do with the fact that I can totally relate to this character… really! Ok, that made it even better for me, but Lise Myhre’s Nemi is everything the book description says. A hilarious, cynical, honest, sarcastic Goth who goes through the ups and downs of dating, drinking, pubbing and flubbing like all twenty-somethings do.

The book/graphic novel is a wonderful collection in color and a must have for anyone who loves to laugh, who loves a woman with attitude, badittude and a wicked sense of humor. Deliciously goth and not afraid to be who she wants to be, Nemi is definitely fun to follow. I’ll be looking for more from this artist.

    Comic Book Store Find

    • Mood: happy

It’s always a good day when I go to my local comic store, I picked up issue #8 of the Anita Blake Guilty Pleasures comic. I’m a huge fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, and am loving the comics based on her Anita Blake novels.

The bonus find of the day was a graphic novel called Favole 2. Set Me Free by Victoria Frances. Published by Heavy Metal. WOW, this lady’s illustrations/art work are amazing!! I haven’t finished reading it yet because I am so awed by her drawing. I’m going to surf around and try to find the first book online after I post here.

Yesterday was a pit-stop into Chapters and I found a new romance/fantasy Manga to check out. ( I’m a total newbie to Manga) Mark of The Succubus by Ashly Raiti. Looks interesting. I also found an anthology called Murder By Magic, edited by Rosemary Edghill. Some of the authors include: Carole Nelson Douglass, Mercedes Lackey, and Susan Krinard, all good authors in my books, so I’m looking forward to reading that as well.
