Our Cover Price: $2.49

Book Description:
But their lives weren’t always so wonderful, such a long time ago in Rome. Back then Galeria was the emperor’s daughter. She wasn’t supposed to have a scorching secret affair with the beautiful and passionate Cassian, champion gladiator of Rome. Nor should she have taken comfort in the massive, marble-like arms of Atticus—Cassian’s best friend, her night chamber guard and a closet vampire—when informed of Cassian’s supposed demise.
Too late, they discover that Cassian lives. Overcome with jealousy, he challenges Atticus to a battle to the death in the arena. Galeria is caught in the middle, tormented by her feelings for these two powerful men. But a mysterious ritual changes all their lives. Forever.”

My Thoughts:
I loved the movie “Gladiator”, starring Russell Crowe, when it was released and still do. I just watched it again recently. I’m also glued to HBO every Monday night to watch Spartacus, starring Andy Whitfield. Brad Pitt in Troy was awesome. I don’t know what it is about these Roman and Thracian gladiators that I find so exciting, but when I saw the description of Brigit Zahara’s The Turning, I had to read it! I was not disappointed.
I’m not usually a fan of short stories, as I like longer, more developed tales with characters that can truly “live” in my imagination and most short stories just don’t have the time to develop that process. The Turning was the exception. Galeria, Cassian & Atticus were easy for me to “see” in my head and the passion and eroticism between them? Flaming, steamy HOT! I definitely give this short novella, The Turning, two enthusiastic thumbs up! I would also like to see Brigit Zahara develop these charcters into a full length novel or series, as I would definitely love to read more about them, thier history and their futures.

Dusk – Spotlight & Review
E-Book Description:
“A sexy vampire tale by Lana Griffin, the alter ego of a New York Times best-selling author!
Can an ancient voodoo priestess and her vampire lover overcome their “bad blood” to save the lives of ordinary humans?
Alexandra Leveau comes from an ancient voodoo priestess clan that’s been feuding with sexy vamp Vadim Blerinca’s family for centuries. The mysterious “bad blood” between the Leveaus and Blerincas is what keeps Alexandra and Vadim burning for each other, yet it also makes them a very dangerous match: by making love, each could kill the other.
Added to the erotically charged mix is Alexandra’s ex-boyfriend, the poetic wraith Skipp, as well as a gargoyle who is devoted to Alexandra and will kill anyone who tampers with her. Add one more wraith to the mix plus an insane vamp sire and the true Venus de Milos. Now mix in elements of murder and mystery: the deaths of elderly citizens for unknown reasons.
DUSK gives you all this and more. A sexy, romantic romp of forbidden love and lust!”
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this book. Vampires, a Voodoo Priestess, reincarnation, wraiths, gargoyles and themes of love, loyalty and strength all combined to make for an interesting read. Of course there was some hot sex too and the danger of “bad blood” making it dangerous for Alexie & Vadim to be together. I also liked the inner battle that Alexie had to wage as well as having to deal with outside circumstances.
Now anyone who knows me, or at least has been reading my reviews for awhile, knows that I lean more towards longer novels or series, as I personally prefer more fully fleshed out stories and characters. But for a shorter novel, Dusk was a good read! If you love a quick bite of erotic paranormal romance with some interesting twists and turns, then Dusk is for you.

Charlene Teglia – Interview & Giveaway
Today I have erotic paranormal romance author Charlene Teglia here for an interview and giveaway! Grab a cup of tea, a scone and get comfy while we get to know this awesome lady a bit. 🙂
Sidhe Vicious welcomes Paranormal Erotica author Charlene Teglia! We’re looking forward to getting to know you and all about your novel Claimed By The Wolf.
Charlene – Thanks! Claimed by the Wolf introduces the Shadow Guardians, immortal
warriors who guard humanity from, well, creatures like themselves.
Sidhe -Your Paranormal Erotica novel, Claimed By The Wolf was released in December 2009 by St Martin’s Griffin. Can you tell us about it and a bit about the main characters?
Charlene – The hero, Kenric, is an alpha werewolf whose pack died when he was betrayed by a witch. The heroine, Sybil is an incompetent witch who accidentally unleashes the same dark force that led to those deaths. Romance with baggage! To complicate matters, the only way to make things
right is for Inanna’s immortal warriors, the Shadow Guardians, to transfer their power to her via sex magic.
Sidhe – What about vamps, witches, weres, etc inspired you to write about them?
Charlene – I love witches and werewolves and vampires. And there aren’t enough books with shape-shifting dragons, demons, or sidhe in them.
Sidhe – Will we be seeing more of Sybil, Kenric and the rest of the Shadow Guardians in the future?
Charlene – Yes, Kiss of the Demon is underway and should be out in Oct. of 2010.
Sidhe – How did you get your start in writing? What, if anything, lit the “spark” to get you started and keep you motivated?
Charlene – I wrote all the time, as far back as I can remember. My mom says I made up stories that I acted out with my stuffed animals when I was 3. As for motivation, writing is stress relief, a sanity check, and the way I pay the bills. Then there are the deadlines. I have a lot of motivation to keep my butt in the chair and my hands on the keyboard.
Sidhe – What was the path to publication on this novel like? Highlights? Pitfalls?
Charlene – This book was “book #2” of a contract and was developed after everything else I proposed was rejected, LOL. Proof that necessity is the mother of invention. I had to write something to fulfill the contract.
Sidhe – Did you find it harder or easier to write subsequent novels in this series because of already having created this world?
Charlene – It’s so much easier to start with a world, rules, characters, history. I’d rather build on that than start over from ground zero any day.
Sidhe – Do you have any funny writing quirks or habits that you do when you’re in the “zone” writing?
Charlene – I lose my coffee cups, does that count? Set them down, forget, wander off.
Sidhe – Have you ever met a vampire, werewolf, demon, fae?
Charlene – No, but it would certainly liven up my day if I did.
Sidhe – What supernatural power or creature would you most like to have or be?
Charlene – It’d be fun to fly, but I suppose I should wish for something more useful, like the power to heal.
Sidhe – Who is your favourite paranormal or urban fantasy fictional character and why? (Not counting your own of course).
Charlene – I don’t think I can answer that, I have too many favourites. I love Harry
Dresden, Rachel Morgan, Kate Daniels.
Sidhe – Who’s your favourite author? TV show? Movie?
Charlene – Again, too many favourites. It depends on the mood.
Sidhe – If you could choose one fictional character to bring into real life, who would you choose?
Charlene – Odd Thomas. I’d like to have breakfast with him.
Sidhe – How have the books you’ve read influenced the books you write?
Charlene – I’m not sure it counts as influence, but when you analyze what you read and understand why something you like works for you and why something you don’t like doesn’t, it helps you understand your own work and where your strengths lie.
Sidhe – What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever gotten inspiration from?
Charlene – A tabloid headline (I Was An Alien’s Love Slave, Ellora’s Cavemen
Seasons of Seduction III)
Sidhe – What do you do when you’re having writer’s block to “shake” it off?
Charlene – Writer’s block is a complex issue, so it depends on the problem. If the story is stuck, then I do character interviews, brainstorm on paper, etc. until I figure out the problem. Or I switch gears and write something else; that will often shake loose whatever’s stuck on story A. If it’s a case of too much work, not enough play, the well needs refilling. Resting, reading, etc. will fix it.
Sidhe – What can a new reader expect from your book/series?
Charlene – The Shadow Guardians are very erotic stories with romance and danger and fun.
Sidhe – You write about various types of supernatural creatures. Do you do a lot of research or do you prefer to take what you already know and use your imagination for the rest?
Charlene – I do a ton of research. And I use my imagination. I usually reverse-engineer for world-building elements.
Sidhe – Are any of your characters particularly fun or easy for you to write? Any that are more difficult?
Charlene – The dragon shape-shifter was very easy to write. Kenric was a stone bastard, but I wrestled him down in the end.
Sidhe – Do you have any tips for aspiring speculative fiction writers?
Charlene – Read, read, read, read. Write, write, write, write, write. And get your hands on Plot by Ansen Dibell, it’s an excellent resource for solutions to myriad kinds of story problems.
Sidhe – Thanks so much Charlene for being here at SVR. It was great to get to know you!
Charlene – Thanks for asking me, it was fun.

The third book in Elizabeth Amber’s Lords Of Satyr series, this book is definitely smoking hot! A wonderful mix of historical details, great storytelling, myth, danger and erotic romance.

Sins Of The Night – Spotlight & Review
SINS OF THE NIGHT by DEVYN QUINN
I’ll skip the blurb seeing as how it’s on the preceding post. 🙂 Sins Of The Night is the second book in Devyn Quinn’s Kith and Kynn series, but it definitely can be read as a stand-alone. I am also dying to read the first book now, Sins Of The Flesh. I can not start my review without mentioning the cover of this book. HELLO? Can you say eye-candy ladies? Does that cover come in a huge poster? Holy smokes, me likes it. Yes indeed. *Swoons*
Ok, now that I got that out of my system, we’ll get to the other good things. This was a great read, I was up all night reading it! Adrien Roth is a sexy, tortured, decent and conflicted character that swept me off my feet right away. His story captivated me and the romance that develops with Cassie Wilson had me rooting for them all the way. I loved Gizzy and Morgan Saint-Evanston and am hoping to see a book about Morgan in the future.
I really enjoyed the world-building and the history behind these characters, the descriptions of how they live and the trials they face. The pacing and plot were great as well as the conflicts and resolution. It’s defintely a steam the mirrors up erotica with the paranormal mixed in there beautifully. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves hot, spicy erotic paranormal romance!

” Sex as a weapon? That was something undercover agent Callie Whitten never thought she’d use, until Iollan Drake crossed her path. A brooding outlaw with smoky hair and copper eyes, his exotic accent and heated touch promise a lot of pleasure.
Dangerous secrets loom as Callie discovers that her not-so-typical investigation into a sex trafficking ring has some perilous twists. One of the Bureau’s most wanted, Drake’s a man with a dark secret—something that could get them both killed once Callie stumbles onto the truth. A truth that not only puts her life in jeopardy but also threatens the security of the free world…
The A51-ASD, a top-secret division of the Bureau, has proof of aliens among the civilian population. Iollan Drake is a ‘living’ vampire, part of a subculture of humans who have merged with an alien species called the Niviane Idesha. Restructured through a genetic mutation, the vampires are gifted with enhanced speed, incredible stamina and the ability to shift energy, and the government has become increasingly terrified of their growing legion. Those hosting the alien symbiont are treated as outcasts, subjected to terrifying tests and put into quarantine.
When Drake breaks the shell of secrecy around his people and tells Callie about his secret life, her world is spun terrifyingly sideways: She discovers a nefarious plan involving the creations of yet a third species: alien-human hybrids with all the strengths of the aliens and none of their weaknesses. Events turn more harrowing when Callie discovers she may be pregnant. As one of the few sires able to reproduce, Iollan’s life is in danger, and Callie is in a fight for her own life, and that of her unborn child.
Forced to rely on each other to stay alive, neither Callie nor Drake can resist the passion sizzling between them. When Drake is captured and almost killed, Callie becomes a rogue warrior bent on protecting her new lover—seeking her revenge on the agency that betrayed them both.”
