Books Of The Week – So Far

  • Mood:
  • Currently Reading: Personal Demons
  • Location: chillin in front of the tube

I went and picked up issue #9 of Anita Blake Guilty Pleasures comic. I’m loving the series of comics, and hope they continue to make more comics from the rest of Laurell K. Hamilton’s books.

I also picked up Nalini Singh’s – Caressed By Ice, Rebel Fay – Barb & JC Hendee, Shadows On the Hill – Jackie Cassada, Dusk – Susan Gates, The Black Tatoo – Sam Enthoven, The 30 Minute Writer – Writers Digest Books, Building A Website For Dummies, and my PC Cast & Kristin Cast – Chosen arrived in the mail. A great haul again and it’s only Wednesday!

As you may have noticed, I have a random showing of books in my library at the top. It’s actually mostly books on my wishlist, and a few that I own, but if you click the “my library” link, you can see the whole list. I apologize for the huge big “header” here on my blog, but I can’t seem to find a way to get html anywhere else on here.

You are in a book buying frenzy. I don’t plan on picking up anymore books until Armstrong’s Personal Demon comes out on the 25th. Woot! Can’t wait!

Ha ha, I am always in a book buying frenzy! It’s my crack, it all started with those Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books when I was a wee little nipper…

I am constantly in a pre-ordering book frenzy. I am trying not to buy any other books because I am involved in book swaps over on and don’t want to end up with lots of doubles!

I got my email saying ‘Personal Demon’ by Kelley Armstrong has already been sent to me…Now I just have to wait for it to arrive!!! Stupid Easter holidays!

LOL, I hear that! I’m always grumpy about holiday’s that delay my mail (books), ha ha!
Doesn’t it end up costing quite a bit to mail your books all over for the swapping?

Crazy Week

  • Mood:
  • Currently Reading: One Bite Stand
  • Location: Under my blankets

I’m having a crazy-busy last week and a half. I did, however, aquire alot of good books! =) I do actually buy alot of books new, but I also buy alot of second hand books from the Goodwill store (my little way of supporting a charity while indulging in my book addiction), second-hand bookstores, and my good friend M, (you know who you are & I love ya!), sends me her copies of books after she’s read them. If any authors are reading this, I apologize, because I know you don’t make money on second hand sales, but there’s no way I could afford to buy all new copies of every book I want. I do spend way more every month on books than most, so I do what I can to support writers and my reading habits.

Books I aquired this week include: The Gathering Dark by Christopher Golden, Darkling by Yasmine Galenorn, When Darkness Comes by Alexandra Ivy, Dragon Heat by Allyson James, Charmed I’m Sure by Liz Ireland, The Stone Maiden by Susan King, Heart Mate by Robin D. Owens, Judgement In Death by J.D. Robb, The Twilight Lord by Bertrice Small, Mysteria an Anthology, My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon an Anthology, Midnight Awakening by Lara Adrian, The Moon Stone by Claire Cross, Dream Of Me by Lisa Cach and One Bite Stand by Nina Bangs.

Woot! What a haul! I think my TBR pile is now actually bigger than my Keeper pile. This makes me ridiculously happy.  I finished reading Unshapely Things and will be posting my review in the next day or two. I’m now reading Nina Bangs’ One Bite Stand.

Writer’s Guild Strike & TV Shows

  • Location: At My Desk
  • It looks like the writer’s strike is over! Woo Hoo!!! I’m all for the writers getting everything they asked for because it’s much deserved, but speaking from a TV addict’s point of view, I sure hope that nothing like that happens again anytime soon. I watched new episodes of Smallville, Supernatural and Lost last night, and was it ever great to see. I’m not much of a reality TV fan myself, although the American Idol auditions are a guilty pleasure.

Some of my other favorite shows include but are not limited to: Prison Break, Terminator-The Sarah Conner Chronicles, CSI Miami, NCIS, The Unit, Bionic Woman, Painkiller Jane, Blood Ties, Moonlight, Stargate-Atlantis, Battle Star Gallactica, Smallville, Supernatural, Extreme Home Makeover, Brothers & Sisters, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, ER, Jericho, and when I’m not watching one of those, I’m usually on the Space channel or Spike tv watching one of the many incarnations of Star Trek, that is if, I’m not reading.

On the subject of TV shows, what ever happened to a “TV season” lasting from fall to the spring??? Seriously! A new season of a show starts, they play 3 or 4 new episodes for consequtive weeks, and then it’s re-runs for a week or two, then another new episode, another re-run, etc. and then they have “winter finales”. WTF is that?? Call me ancient, but I remember when it was a new episode every week throughout the “season” and re-runs during the summer. Ah the good old days… I’m sure it’s a conspiracy to frustrate all of us into buying the shows on DVD, which I am also guilty of doing, even though it galls me to be suckered into it like that. If I like a show enough to watch it religiously every week, I’ll probably go and buy the DVD anyway just to have it and to see the one or two episodes I missed. And I don’t mean just this year because of the strike. This has been going on for a few years now, and there were no strikes during those seasons.  I could go on about this subject, but I believe I made my point. Let me know what you think.

    I’m currently reading:

    The Fury and Dark Reunion

The Vampire Diaries: The Fury & Dark Reunion by L.J. Smith

I am glad the strike is over too! I just hope that it won’t take too long for them to have something put together to show us!!

How was the Vampire Diaries? I have it on my Tbr pile but haven’t got around to it yet.

I hope so too! Until some new episodes of my fave shows come out, I have the origionals of Addams Family season one and The Munsters season one on DVD to tide me over.
I read and liked the first Vampire Diaries, and got about half way through the second book. I had a difficult time maintaining interest, so I put it aside for now. I’ll finish it later.

    Just Some Rambling

    • Mood: mellow

I’m going to try and keep this blog centered around books, TV shows and movies, so the subject matter won’t be all over the place. I’ll have another blog going soon over at my livejournal account that will be about more personal thoughts and my ongoing writing. I’ll post the link as soon as I get that blog up and running for any who are interested.

I am currently reorganizing my paranormal/urban fantasy bookshelf, so aside from reviewing the books I’m reading, I’m also going to make lists of authors and books that I own. Favorites – current and old ones, as well as categorizing them into their various niches. Hopefully some of you will find some that you haven’t come across before as I have an extensive collection.

My favorite online bookstores here in Canada are and You can order these books from them, and I believe it’s and Barnes and Noble in the USA.

I’m currently reading Twist by Colby Hodge. 36 pages into it and I’m liking it so far, so I’ll be doing a review when I’m done.
