Book Description:

“Harm no human…
A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.
Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief—Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meeting the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.
A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster…
Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth and is determined to see him dead once and for all.
Brought together by an angry god and chased by ancient enemies out to kill them both, they must find a way to overcome their mutual hatred or watch as one of the darkest of powers rises and kills both the races they’ve sworn to protect.”
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed listening to the audio version of Retribution.  It was very entertaining and funny at times.  The author did a wonderful job with all the characters in the book, as each of the characters had their own stories to tell .  They each had made mistakes in their human lives and they try to make up for what they did.
I really like Jess and  Abigail together and I loved the strong connection they had to each other.  They were both very strong characters who had been through a lot.  Despite their pasts and the fact  that Abigail wanted to kill Jess at first because she thought he killed her family, she later learns the truth and finds herself falling for him.  Jess is an amazing character.  Despite everything he went through, he had a wonderful sense of humor throughout the book. He was an amazing fighter and protected Abigail despite her killing one of the dark hunters.  We later find out there is a reason for their connection.
Sherrilyn is an amazing writer.  She has a way of bringing her characters and story to life.  I would recommend the Dark Hunter series and any of her books to anyone.  I can’t wait to read some more of her books!

(My apologies for the bad formatting of this post. I attempted to put the “book description” in block quotes, and that didn’t work. No matter what I do, I can’t get the formatting to cooperate with me on this one. 😦 I figured it was better just to get it posted rather than not having anything to post.)

  • Book Description:

“In the Ichidian Universe, the League and its ruthless assassins continue to keep rule. But at what cost? Welcome back to the future…and a whole new world.

Devyn Kell spent his life in service to the League until he learned of the double dealing and backstabbing that was costing innocent people their lives. Refusing to play those politics, he became a Runner—someone who makes sure planets get the weapons, medicine and supplies they need to survive. May the gods have mercy on any who get in his way, because he definitely won’t.

Alix Garran is a woman on the run from a past she can’t escape. Signing on to work for Devyn as a System’s Engineer, she finds a cause she can fight for—and a man she can respect. But as Alix’s past catches up to her, and Devyn’s old enemies turn lethal, they have to fight together…or fall alone.”

    My Thoughts:

This is the third book in Kenyon’s “League” series and it did not dissapoint! I’m seeing a re-emergence of Sci-Fi Romance and I am happy that Sherrilyn Kenyon decided to  completely rewrite and re-release the the three books in this series. Born Of Night, Born Of Fire and Born of Ice.

Alix and Devyn’s story held me captivated while blazing through the stars along with them and their crew. Rich characters, fast paced story telling, wonderful world building and and steamy romance on top of a great plot had me flipping the pages! I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good romance, a swash-buckling adventure up in the stars, on a space ship and a fast paced plot. Another highlight is that you get to read about some of the characters from the previous two books, which I always love to see happen.

    Dream Chaser Spotlight & Review

Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon     Published: February 2008 by St Martin’s Paperbacks

    Format:Mass Market Paperbound

    Published:February 5, 2008

    Dimensions:384 Pages

    Published By:St. Martin’s Press

The following ISBNs are associated with this title:
    ISBN – 10:
    0312938829
    ISBN – 13:9780312938826

(from back cover) “Hades doesn’t often give second chances… Xypher has one month on earth to redeem himself through one good deed, or be condemed to eternal torture in Tartarus. But redemption means little to a demigod who only wants vengence on the one who caused his downfall.

Until one day in a cemetary…Simone Dubois is a medical examiner with a real knack for the job. Those who are wrongfully killed appear to her and help her find the evidence the police need to convict their killers. But when a man appears and tells her that she’s more than just a psychic, she’s convinced he’s insane.

Now the fate of the world hangs in her hands… It was bad enough when just the dead relied on her. Now there’s the seductive Dream-Hunter Xypher who needs Simone’s help in opening a portal to the Atlantean hell realm to fight insatiable demons. The future of mankind is at stake – and so is her life. The only question now is: Who is the bigger threat? The demons out to kill her? Or the man who has left her forever changed?”

I read the whole book in 3 hours, which is no surprise because I own every book Sherrilyn Kenyon has written. She’s a permanent resident on my “Keeper” shelf. I bow down to this lady who has created the Dark Hunter/ Dream Hunter/ Were Hunter world. The only bad thing I can say about any of her books is the lull between them when I have to wait for the next one! I can also vouch that re-reading her novels a second or third time is just as enjoyable as the first time through. If you are at all a fan of paranormal romance, urban fantasy, immortal hotter than lava alpha males, weres, shape shifters, a wicked sense of humor, and you’ve been off the planet earth for a while and somehow haven’t come across her books, then I recommend running out and getting your hands on as many of them as you can! Stock up on the hot beverages and prepare to indulge because Kenyon’s books are as addicting as chocolate. Dream Chaser gets
