SVR Wants To Know

First of all, I hope everyone down in the USA is having a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!! I’m guessing you’re all in a turkey/stuffed yourself coma or out braving the insanity that is Black Friday, lol. The Black Friday sales are even spreading up here to Canada today and I’m still debating about making my way out to see what’s to be had for great sales.

I went and saw Breaking Dawn Part 1 yesterday with my best friend and it was AWESOME! I was impressed with the way that they handled the story-line and with the special effects. I even had tears in my eyes  a few times during the wedding, lol. I can’t believe that they’re making us wait till next November for the last movie when they’re already done filming it. That’s just cruel. They should release it in the summer! Pffft… So who all has seen the movie? Care to discuss it in the comments? What did you think? Favorite parts? Cheesy Parts?

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I’ll give fair warning and say SPOILER ALERT in the comments of this post!

I have a question for you all. I’m finding as I get older or have read that many more books in my life, that I am losing interest in books that aren’t written in first person. I just can not seem to get into a book written in third person point of view anymore!? All the “she said” and then “he said” and then “she did…” and “he responded…” Gah! It’s tedious for me now and I have a harder time relating to or caring about the characters when it’s written in third person POV. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I just an eccentric, picky reader? SVR wants to know!

Tuesday Teaser

I’m actually kinda looking forward to this one! Snow White and The Huntsmen. It sounds and looks like an interesting “re-mix” on the Snow White fairy tale and is obviously an adult version in that it’s a lot darker in tone. I got a good laugh when I read in one of the comments: “so Hancock’s wife hires Thor to hunt down and kill Bella”. Pretty funny if you think of it that way! 😀

What movies are you looking forward to?

Tuesday Movie Trailer

There are a bunch of movie trailers that I’ve seen recently that have me all excited, but today I’m sharing with you all the trailer for The Hunger Games which is based on Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games Trilogy. I can not tell you how much I loved these books! I was totally caught up in the world that the author created on paper and am ever so curious to see if the movie will do the book justice. The trailer looks really promising though. If you’ve read the book, what do you think of the trailer and are you excited to see the movie? If you haven’t read the book, what are you waiting for? 😀

Teaser Tuesday

I am well into my third week of slogging through the flu that never ends and am feeling like it really will never end! LOL They just opened the flu clinics here yesterday. Where were they 4 weeks ago when I needed them? Yesterday was also round 4 or 5 of my bi-weekly dentist visits to get some much needed work done and it just knocked me on my butt yesterday with a brutal migraine. Fun stuff I tell ya. But, to cheer myself up, I have been watching the new The Avengers trailer and thought I would share it with you all too. 🙂 Observe the awesomeness that is coming in May!

Tuesday Teaser – On Wednesday

Since I had a special event yesterday, with Kait Nolan guest blogging along with a giveaway, I’m pushing my Teaser Tuesday post over to today. 🙂  Now this movie trailer is for a movie that is going to be out on dvd on September 13th, but I’m still dying to see it already! I was supposed to go with someone **cough, cough.. my sister, cough** who decided to go with her friend and leave me hanging in the dust. Nice eh? Hmm.. Sept 13th is two days after my birthday, I think I should make my sister buy me the dvd as a gift right? (I can dream)  Anyways, it’s the Thor trailer, so if you’ve seen the movie already let me know what you thought! (Holy eye candy batman!) LOL I’ve always been fascinated by Norse Mythology too.

Speaking of really hot Vikings, has anyone read Sandra Hill’s Viking/Navy Seal – Time Travel Romances? She’s one of my favorite authors who isn’t in the Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance genres. Awesome writer with a great sense of humor and definitely an auto-buy for for me! 🙂

Teaser Tuesday

I was trying to think of a regular weekly post I could do on the blog and thought that “Teaser Tuesday” would be a good way to go. This way I can include movie trailers, books & book trailers for upcoming books that I’m dying to read and whatever else I come across on the internet. 🙂 So welcome to my first Teaser Tuesday! Feel free to let me know in the comments about anything cool that you’ve come across and are excited about.

I recently read the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, which I loved and I am really looking forward to seeing the movie now! I just discovered this teaser trailer so here you all go.

And just in case you’ve been under a rock and haven’t read the Hunger Games trilogy yet, go buy the books!

Recent Movies

For a change, I’ve actually been to see a few movies lately, so I thought I would share my thoughts on them with you all. 🙂

Michael Jackson’s This Is It

I’ve been to see this movie twice and I loved it! MJ was unbelievably talented and a creative genius. He still had it at 50 years old. The movie chronicles the rehearsals from the This Is It shows that were to be in London this year. Based on the footage, the show would have been absolutely amazing! It made me sad because the full show will never happen now, and his children will never get to see him perform. He passed before his time. I was also happy because he still had his voice, his dancing and his passion and dedication to his art.

(I ask that anyone who has negative comments to make about MJ keep it to themselves. If you’re not a fan of his music, that’s fine. Everyone’s entitled to their own taste in music. But I would appreciate it if anyone who has negative things to say about him would go and find a group of your peers. It’s not here.)

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

I finally made it to the theater to see this movie and was not disappointed. It should definitely be seen on the big screen at least once, though I’ll be buying the DVD as well. Harry Potter and the rest of the characters have grown up and have to go through even more trials and life changing situations.

I’m always impressed by the quality of the HP films. The stunning scenery, sets and special effects mixed with the wonderfully rich characters that the actors portray and the situations that they’re placed in makes for an amazing movie. I’m ashamed to admit that I have yet to read the books, and yes I do have them all, but I’m loving the movies! 😀

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

If you’re a resident on the planet Earth, you know that New Moon opened on Nov 20th. I went to a 12:30pm show on Friday and it was packed, as was the show at 11:55am. The line-up outside for the movie when we came out was overwhelming. But that’s no surprise to me. (That’s why we went early. :D) And thankfully there weren’t a million squealing/tweeting teenagers to ruin the movie.

I really liked it. I’ll have to see it a couple more times to totally make up my mind, but other than the people who were in the theater with a BABY who was crying!!??, I enjoyed the movie. I thought that they did a good job of putting the story to film. As an avid reader, of course there were parts of the book that I wish had been put into the movie, but let’s be real, there’s no way to pack every detail of a 608 page book into a 2 hour movie.

I loved the addition of the werewolves and the Volturi. I don’t want to give any spoilers away for those who haven’t seen it yet. They stayed true to the book with a couple of changes that added to the visual experience. I’ll definitely be going to see it again.
